Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actress who is known for her role as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. After her wedding to her husband, she was referred to by the name Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as young, she demonstrated an aptitude for acting and won the Best Actress Award at an Maryland High School competition. In the years following her involvement in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first big role. Movies such as Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark were followed by Boogie Nights Spark. Contractor who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria during seven years, had a wide range of trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. She went to boarding school from the age between 7 and 9 years old in London. Later her family relocated in Toronto (Canada) which is where they spent her entire childhood. Contractor was a successful academic throughout her time in Toronto and also trained as the ballerina. She was enrolled in the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It is a special high-school for the arts, where she did not only learn about theater, but also dance as well. Contractor She had been dancing for nearly 10 years by the time she was, decided she was ready to pursue acting. After graduating high school, she was awarded a full grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in theatre and a double major in sociology and psychology. After one semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles in the highly regarded, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the role of lead. Her performance was lauded in the 92 plays that she performed in. She won the award in 2002 for the most outstanding production of the Year, as judged by Canadian critics. She was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight women are able to take the 20-week crash program in classical theatre. Contractor's participation in the next play-season was confirmed and she was cast in the role of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
